The Texans’ coaching staff remained mostly intact with the return of all three coordinators, including offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, defensive coordinator Matt Burke and special teams coordinator Frank Ross.
The Texans hired assistant offensive line coach Zach Yenser, a former University of Kentucky offensive line coach to go along with head offensive line coach Chris Strausser and assistant offensive line coach Cole Popovich, who remained with the AFC South champion on an upgraded contract after interviewing for the Washington Commanders’ top offensive line coaching position.
Yenser had signed a one-year extension with Kentucky then parted ways with the school after they hired former Alabama offensive line coach Eric Wolford after Nick Saban retired.
Yenser is a former assistant offensive line coach with the San Francisco 49ers where he overlapped with coach DeMeco Ryans.
The Texans hired Mike Snyder as an offensive assistant.
Snyder is a former Atlanta Falcons football analyst and offensive assistant and Chicago Bears assistant quarterbacks coach and quality control coach.
The Texans announced previously reported promotion of Rod Wright, a former University of Texas defensive end, to head defensive line coach as the replacement for Jacques Cesaire, the hire of assistant defensive line coach Nate Ollie, previously the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive line coach, and linebackers coach Bill Davis, a veteran former NFL defensive coordinator who worked with Burke with the Arizona Cardinals.
